Fly Parasites are a family of insects that, when distributed in the proper quantity and frequency, can very effectively suppress a population of flies. Included in this family are several species: some of them are smaller and more numerous but less hearty and aggressive, some are larger and more able to burrow deep into fly habitat to find the developing flies. The mix of these species can make a great difference in their effectiveness. Our mix is a special combination of these different types which supplies a great number of insects to attack flies near the surface of the fly habitat but also includes many of the larger more hearty types to aggressively search for the less accessible flies.

Why do we call our premium mix of fly parasite species FlyRaptors?
The name is based upon a play on the scientific names of two of the fly parasite species in our mix*, Muscidifurax zaraptor and Muscidifurax raptorellus. Plus, a raptor is a very efficient hunter, hence the name FlyRaptors.

Why should you buy FlyRaptors rather than any other brand?
Each colony contains the most hearty and effective mix of species possible, is carefully packaged in a substantial amount of wood shavings and is guaranteed to be a minimum of 10,000 pupae. We're so sure of the quality of our product that we guarantee our quantity per shipment and that you will receive a live hatch every time. As many of the included pupae are of multiple-hatch specie, the yield of insects can be substantially greater than the pupa count.

* Our mix consists of Muscidifurax zaraptor, Muscidifurax raptorellus and Spalangia cameroni. Independent research has shown these species to be the most consistantly effective and significantly more so than distributions of a single specie.
